Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I make a suggestion about/report a bug for Auction Sidebar Tool?
A. Yes. We love to hear your thoughts, please post your suggestion/bug report on our forums.
Q. You mention popup alerts in your feature list, why don't these appear for me?
A. Popup alerts appear when you're outbid, have a new message or an item is ending. If you haven't fallen into any of that criteria yet, don't panic, just be patient. There have been reports about our popups not working on some 64-bit versions of Windows. This can be worked around by running the 32-bit version of Sidebar installed on your computer.
Q. Can Auction Sidebar Tool steal my password and hijack my eBay account?
A. Short answer: no. Long answer: Auction Sidebar Tool never asks you for your password. Instead, we send you to the eBay sign-in page with a special tag on the end of the link that says when you have signed in you want to let Auction Sidebar Tool retrieve your eBay information.
Q. Is bidding directly through the Gadget secure?
A. If you don't use a bidding password in the Gadget and other people have access to your computer, then it isn't secure. If you do use a bidding password, then it is relatively secure. If another computer user tries to reset your bidding password, the account must be authorized again. This stops users being able to switch off your bidding password and bidding on items on your behalf.
Q. Where can I download new skins?
A. All the skins currently available are included with the Gadget. You are very welcome to make your own skin, please post in the forums if you would like to know how.
